Tried something new on this birthday during my nightly, deep thinking time.
My chronic ailment wakes me in the wee hours of 4-5AM, for around 1-2 hours.
It’s going on 10 years living with this ailment and I have learned to actually enjoy this quiet time of meditation and deep contemplation of anything and everything in the universe.
The quiet AM sleep hours is the only time the noisy modern machine shuts down, along with most of nature. With no distractions, you can be at one with yourself and hear yourself think, which is a luxury nowadays.
On this morning of my birthday, I decided to reminisce about all the good stuff.
Like many others, I am a person who survived childhood trauma so I often dwell on what goes wrong in my life, versus what goes right.
I made it to young adulthood memories before falling back asleep. It felt gratifying pondering the many accomplishments achieved in my humble life. I did however veer toward the negative side a couple times, but caught my myself and got back on the positive track. Rewiring the brain to see the glass half full is not easy, but well worth the work.
It’s also not easy for a Spring baby, forever young, Peter Pan Creative to get older. Yet Nature aka God has a way of helping out via rich life experiences and much study resulting in a crystalized intelligence perspective, transforming knowledge into wisdom.
Vanity lessens along with testosterone and sex drive. Not that you should let yourself go (especially if you have a partner), but that you are just not as concerned about what others think as much as when you were young, insecure and seeking affirmations.
As one enters the winter season of life with mortality on the horizon, you place more importance on the essential elements of life - family , friends and trying to be a good person and citizen of the world.
Surely we are all works in progress, here to learn lessons and hopefully evolve to higher levels of consciousness, living in harmony with humanity, nature and ourselves. I am Working on my attitude with genuine Gratitude. Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday from a fellow older human being who wakes up in the night to fight the physical discomforts of the body—the between of the body and the breathing night. I like to consider the idea that many creatives gather at those ungodly hours to wake up to teachings, like yours, of Acceptance, Grace, and whichever words we choose to bring this experience to consciousness. Thanks for sharing!!!
Happy Birthday! I am also older, and I always get up early (like 3- 5 AM) because I love the peace, and to listen to the morning birds singing. I hope you have a wonderful day!
